Behind the Canvas

"A Quiet Place Between Two Worlds"
After receiving the news that my cancer had returned, I began this painting. What was intended to be a deeply personal piece, a visual journal to help carry me through yet another diagnosis, unexpectedly became a subconscious reflection of my heart during the journey. If that wasn't enough disappointment, my mother passed away.
This work represents that quiet place we retreat to in our minds when reality feels overwhelming. A place where we surround ourselves with streams of hope and innocent beauty, where time slows, and where peace settles in; a peace that surpasses all understanding.
I wanted to share that no matter how raw or unconventional it seems, because our human experience is understood by every person that has walked in grief and struggle, we are not alone.
